KRAPP, 39
2009 DRAMA DESK NOMINATION FOR OUTSTANDING SOLO PERFORMANCE:
Michael Laurence
A voyeuristic prefiguring of Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape and a deeply personal exploration of the mysteries of aging and the end of youth.
Reeling on his 39th birthday, an actor’s obsessive identification with Beckett’s famous character compels him to examine his own quixotic life and failures.
His hilarious and heart breaking self-scrutiny plays out through intimate audio tapes, archival video, raw journal entries, haunted letters, racy confessions, and recorded conversations with the living and the lost.
Extended to June 28th!
Schedule: Friday 8pm | Saturday 5pm & 8pm | Sunday 5pm
ADDED PERFORMANCES: June 3 & 10 3pm
TIckets $29-$39

THOSE INDIAN GUYS present
D'ARRANGED MARRIAGE
EXTENDED . . . AGAIN . . . DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND!
Tickets $15 & $20
June 6, 12, 19 & 26 |
July 10, 17, 24 & 31 9pm
Performed by Rajeev Varma
Written by Rajeev Varma and Tarun Mohanbhai
Directed by Tarun Mohanbhai with additional direction by Jim Duff
D'Arranged Marriage is a play about Sanjay Gupta, an aspiring New Zealand Indian
stand-up comic who spends his life working at his father's corner shop and avoiding the
issue of an arranged marriage. His nagging family finally gets the better of him, but to
his surprise he discovers the prospective bride is the one!
"Don't credit the liquor for everyone bursting with explosive laughter. Varma could get just as strong a reaction at an A.A. meeting . . . For 75 minutes, Varma commands an audience's attention . . .Varma certainly convinces the audience that he's in the right occupation. Now that James Brown is no longer with us, here's a true contender for the title of "The Hardest Working Man in Show Business . . . By the show's end, theatergoers may well come to the conclusion that Rajeev Varma could get any female he wants. After all, don't women always claim that they want a man who can make them laugh?" — Tribeca Tribune, April 2009
"All I can say give a man a cricket bat and he will be funny for a day; give him a
sari and a cricket bat and he will be funny for life." – NZ Sunday Star Times
"Rajeev is remarkable on stage. On opening night, he even had some members of
the audience slapping their thighs as they laughed uproariously at his comedic turns
during the 75-minute show." – New Sunday Times Malaysia, December 2007
“Hilarious…a cultural comedy classic…” – NZ Dominion Post
